MicroSkills: Celebrating inspiring women

Happy International Women’s Day!

The aim of IWD is to connect all women around the world and inspire them to achieve their full potential — to celebrate the collective power of women past, present and future. Looking for a way to celebrate?

On May 17th, MicroSkills is hosting its 10th Annual Gala Celebration and Awards Banquet honouring women entrepreneurs, corporate giving and women leaders.

Each year for the past decade, MicroSkills has celebrated the accomplishments of immigrant and racial minority women who have overcome many challenges to establish their own businesses and increase their economic self-reliance.

A non-profit, charitable organization, MicroSkills has provided settlement, training, employment, and self-employment services since 1984. With a focus on the needs of immigrants, visible minority people, low-income women and youth, MicroSkills also specializes in services to women that increase their economic self reliance. To learn more about MicroSkills, view our website.

Our Annual Gala showcases diversity in our community and offers a unique celebration of women entrepreneurs. Awards presented include:

  • MicroSkills Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be presented to four successful graduates of MicroSkills’ Women’s Self Employment Program.
  • MicroSkills Corporate Spirit Award will recognize a company that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the community.
  • The Margot Franssen Leadership Award will honour a woman of accomplishment who combines outstanding leadership in the private or public sector with a passionate commitment to the advancement of women and girls.

To learn more about the women we celebrate, or for more information about this elegant dinner, silent auction and awards ceremony, to donate to our silent auction or to place an ad in our Gala Booklet, visit our Gala page.
