Today's Pick: Women entrepreneurs and financial capital

Just in time for International Women’s Day (today!), the Canadian Advance Technology Association (CATA)’s Women in Technology Forum have released a study that looks at capital and women entrepreneurs. Authored by two University of Ottawa School of Management professors, the study “…examine[s] gender differences among Canadian small and medium enterprise (SME) owners seeking external financing, including commercial debt, leasing, supplier financing, and equity capital after controlling for size and industry sector.â€?

A key finding of the study was that “…women business owners were equally likely as men to seek all types of financing, except equity capitalâ€? – a finding with important implications for women entrepreneurs.
