The buzz abroad: There's something about Toronto

Toronto

It’s always great to hear that Toronto and Ontario are being noticed abroad. And it’s even better when we’re being noticed for our innovation.

I just came across Roland Harwood’s blog, “There’s Something About Toronto“. In it, he mentions MaRS among a list of other great innovators coming out of Toronto including Richard Florida, Jane Jacobs, Naomi Klein, Don Tapscott, and the Rotman School of Management with its focus on integrative thinking.

Roland heads up the NESTA Connect program at NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) in the UK. NESTA Connect explores and showcases successful collaborative innovation that disrupts organizational, sector or geographic boundaries. We’ll hear more in the coming months about some of the innovative endeavours at NESTA including their upcoming DesignLondon initiative.

Harwood notes that “there does seem to be a buzz about [Toronto]” lately and that it points to “a creative and innovative place.”

High five, Toronto!
