Entrepreneurs in Action: Much to celebrate in May
June 1, 2011
At MaRS, we work with hundreds of early-stage companies to help them grow their businesses. Sometimes, those companies do great things: they win awards, secure financing or get great media coverage.
Entrepreneurs in Action is a monthly round-up of our clients’ successes.
Here’s what some of our clients were up to in May:
May’s Entrepreneurs in Action
- Vive Nano, a nanomaterials company that researches and commercializes nanotechnology-based products and materials for crop protection, catalysts and select other applications, was awarded the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care Performance Award.
- Syngrafii launched iDoLVine, the world’s only online authentic, verifiable, personalized autograph and live face-to-face author/reader experience, at Book Expo America.
- We announced the winners of the sixth annual Up-Start! Competition! Congratulations to the two winners: The Hot Plate, a multimedia platform that delivers quick, simple, gourmet and affordable how-to cooking guides, and Eve Medical, a medical device company focused on the specific health-care needs of women.
- Dealuxe.ca, a Canadian shopping destination for high-end brands and unique editorial content, launched on May 2.
- Impakt Protective was featured on Daily Planet’s Concussion Special on May 26. Impackt develops sensors that are placed inside helmets and indicate the risk of concussion after a hit to the head.
- Viafoura, an online video commenting system, won the Road to Banff pitch contest at Canada 3.0 and was featured in Yonge Street.
- The Toronto Star interviewed sisters Mary Jane and Carol McPhee, founders of LifeTimes: The Game of Reminiscence.
