Tweets of the week June 3-10

Our tweets of the week are a mashup of our most interesting and popular finds from across the interweb, based on what we’ve created or shared. Our focus is on tech startups and entrepreneurs, but the odd lolcatz graphic or other mindless meme may sneak in, and we’re not sorry.

Tweets of the Week for June 3-10 in mind-shatteringly random order:

This post from StartupNorth gives a good overview of SMS versus ‘private messengers’ (think @Kik, iMessage, bbm). (Via StartupNorth)

Entrepreneurship Is Not A Career Move. Canadian serial startup founder Dan Martell meets a lot of entrepreneurs in his travels, and he has advice for anyone considering it. It’s a lot more than a ‘job’, he says. Not because the hours are long, but because of the passion and resilience you’ll need. (via @maplebutter)

Net Change Week 2011 ran from June 6 to the 10th, with one day devoted to GovCamp. Joe Wilson was there, and shares the magic of this mini “unconference”.

Waterloo-based online engagement and analytics startup PostRank acquired by Google. Congratulations to a fine group of people.

What’s a junior dev at Facebook earn a year? What about a vet at Microsoft, HP or Google? This link has some salary averages. Probably not happy reading if you think you’re underpaid.

What’s next: a golden age of innovation, or the great stagnation?. Warning, this is intellectual beef jerky — it’s delicious, but may require some chewing.

How are universities portrayed in the media? Joe Wilson wonders why we lionize high school teachers (think Dead Poet’s Society) and demonize university profs (evil scientists, the bunch of them), and what universities should do about it.

Don Tapscott on the power of open data. Really important topic. Really smart guy. ‘Nuff said.
