Salary: Commensurate with level of experience
Hours: 35 Hrs/week
Status: Permanent, Full Time

The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is a new centre of excellence in cancer research located in the MaRS Centre in the Discovery District in downtown Toronto. Launched in December 2005, OICR is an independent research institute funded by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. OICR will address significant challenges in cancer research with multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional teams. New discoveries to prevent, detect and treat cancer will be moved from the bench to practical applications in patients.

The Executive Assistant for the VP, Operations and Corporate Secretary provides full administrative support which includes: performing word processing services for assigned personnel; dealing with business contacts; organizing and coordinating meetings/events; maintaining written and/or electronic calendar/schedules; maintaining and modifying electronic and paper information filing/retrieval systems methods, and/or formats; performing routine budgetary support functions;  preparation of presentation materials; ensuring the efficient operation of the office; performing cross-functional responsibilities, as assigned; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
  • At least 6 years of experience in a comparable administrative role;
  • Completion of a recognized post secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent, an asset;
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint) and Outlook;
  • Ability to analyze basic data and  information;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
  • Proven ability to multi-task;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a new and fast paced environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations;
  • Experience working in a scientific/academic environment preferred.
