Best Practices - Intellectual Property and Valuation of Emerging Medical Therapeutics

SESSION THEMES

The commercial value of biomarkers and various technology platforms are being fueled by the growth of pharmacogenomics and molecular diagnostics markets, as well as their importance in discovery and development of new therapeutics.

However, the path to commercialization is complicated by technology development challenges, regulatory approval uncertainty, and complex evaluations that often need to consider multiple applications. Many issues currently under debate will impact the incentive to pursue the development of a platform technology or the regulatory approval for biomarker IP.

Mark Chandler (www.Invotex.com) and Dr Bob Morrison (www.BioInvension.com) have years of experience consulting with biotechs, venture capitalists and tech transfer offices internationally on IP and evaluation issues. Their presentation will focus on real-world case studies of IP evaluations, protection and commercialization of technology platforms, biomarkers, as well as drugs coupled with predictive tests that may have applications in personalized medicine. They will offer potential solutions to value issues such as patent pools and other unconventional commercialization strategies.

Mark and Bob wish to make this session as interactive as possible and, as such, are leaving extra time in their presentation to discuss your IP evaluations and commercialization challenges in these areas.
