Speaker: Umar Syed, BSc. Pharm., MBA, Chief Scientific Officer, Cannasat Therapeutics
The remarkable chemical diversity encompassed by natural products continues to be of relevance to drug discovery. Although today's drug discovery engine operates at an accelerated pace compared with the era in which natural products were pre-eminent sources of drug leads, numerous approaches have been developed to capture their intrinsic value. Biopharmaceutical products for which physio-chemical, biological, and clinical factors should be considered before combining the right formulation approach and the right active principle. In addition to drug optimization and rescue efforts, chemical and material properties of their physical form need to be identified and optimized for an in vivo performance, reliable manufacture and the protection of their intellectual property.
