ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Lance Laking, President and CEO – BTI Photonic Systems Inc.

Lance has been CEO of BTI since 2001 during which time the company has established itself as an emerging leader in metro optical systems.  Lance has been responsible for securing over US$35M in growth capital from US and Canadian venture capital investors to fuel BTI’s growth.   Lance has over 15 years of experience in building and managing high growth companies. Prior to joining BTI Photonic Systems, he founded the Canadian subsidiary of HUBER+SUHNER, a Swiss-based wireless and optical component manufacturer. He oversaw the building of their Canadian subsidiary from its inception into one of HUBER+SUHNER’s highest growth regions in the world.  In 1987, Lance co-founded and up until 1995 served as Chief Operating Officer of Dynasty Components Inc, a Canadian sales and distribution organization representing a variety of major optoelectronic, interconnect and semiconductor manufacturers.

Lance holds an Honours Accountancy / Economics degree from the University of Waterloo, is a Chartered Accountant, and has completed the Executive Development Program at Queen’s University.
