TRRA serves the broader Toronto region including the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Waterloo Region, the Region of Hamilton-Wentworth, and the City of Guelph. We are a results-oriented, non-profit organization dedicated to making the Toronto region a world-leading centre for research and research-intensive industry by:
- Building public and private research capacity
- Enhancing the commercialization of research
- Attracting new research-intensive companies to the region and working to expand those already here
We’re focusing our initial activities in 3 priority sectors where the region possesses impressive competitive advantages:
- Biotech/life sciences
- Information and communication technology
- Materials science and advanced manufacturing
Our fundamental role is to act as a neutral convenor, facilitator, catalyst and advocate on issues and opportunities related to our R&D mission. We provide dynamic, neutral leadership to help forge a regional consensus on strategic priorities. We deliver informed analysis, prompt cross-sectoral dialogue, and lead coordinated action. Our aim is to empower the region to exploit its extraordinary strengths and compete more effectively in the international R&D marketplace.
