September 29 – 30, 2005
The Donnelly CCBR and MaRS are organizing an international symposium on Computational and Chemical Biology to mark their joint openings. According to Dr. Brenda Andrews, the new Director of the Donnelly CCBR, and Chair, Banting and Best Dept. of Medical Research at U of T, these are relatively new areas that cross traditional disciplines and are rapidly moving to research centre-stage. “Computational biologists aim to find patterns and make sense of the floods of new data from the human genome project. Chemical biologists aim to use small molecules as probes to explore cellular pathways. Their analyses are key to the understanding of almost every research problem that we encounter today—from simple cells to clinical trials.”
