MaRS Attracts International Attention
MaRS was cited as one of the best practices internationally by the UK’s Cooksey Review. The Review said MaRS was bringing “together all the pieces of the translational jigsaw in an environment which connects and fosters collaboration between the science, business and banking/investment communities.” In December, Sir David Cooksey released his report examining how publicly-funded research could be best translated into health and economic benefits, MaRS was one of the examples he cited as “worth following as it develops.”
The international Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has launched a project on how governments are fostering innovation in health. The Emerging Research Models for the Delivery of Health Innovation will be a key resource for policymakers worldwide by using case studies to showcase good practices. MaRS will appear as one of these case studies in the upcoming report, due out later this year.
