New Tenants Call MaRS Home

A number of new tenants in science, business and venture capital have moved to MaRS in recent months.

Cassandra Capital L.P. is an investment company that fosters smaller organizations that share qualities of excellence in technical, financial and business sectors, particularly new businesses in life sciences and IT.

One of those businesses is Critical Outcome Technologies Inc., which focuses on the discovery and preclinical development of small molecules for the treatment of specific cancers, HIV and multiple sclerosis. The company’s products are aimed at areas that currently have lacking or ineffective therapies.

Also supported by Cassandra at MaRS is iLOOKABOUT Corp. Founded in 1999, iLOOKABOUT is dedicated to capturing authentic visualization of medical data and delivering it through the highest quality digital imagery. Cassandra Capital has been the
lead investor since 2006.

Another new tenant is Receptor Therapeutics Inc., a start-up venture located in the MaRS Incubator, which concentrates on early stage drug options. Receptor seeks to find and in-license therapeutic products that will be of significant value to the drug world in the years ahead.

Also new to the MaRS Incubator is ArcticDx Inc., a molecular diagnostic company that focuses on cancer, ocular disease and other genetic diseases. The company spun out of the ARCTIC genome project, which was led by Cancer Care Ontario, McGill University and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research. ARCTIC stands for Assessment of Risk in Colorectal Tumours In Canada.

And finally, the Health Technology Exchange (HTX) has also moved to MaRS. HTX is an organization funded by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation designed to promote the Medical and Assistive Technology (MAT) sector for Ontario and Canada.
