MaRS’ Director of Corporate Strategy, Ross Wallace, presented “Building a Global Gateway to Ontario’s Innovation Ecosystem” in December at the third annual Global Connect Meeting and Partnering Forum in Taipei, Taiwan. As part of a panel on inter-regional partnerships, Wallace’s presentation showcased Canada’s innovation excellence to the international gathering of commercialization groups.

Co-hosted by CONNECT Taiwan and the Institute for Information Industry from December 5-7, 2005, the meeting attracted delegates from 13 countries and centered on the theme of building global enterprises through region-to-region relationships, with special emphasis on relationships in Asia Pacific. The three-day conference featured briefings from policymakers and venture capitalists, panel and plenary discussions, networking fora, a company partnering showcase and tours of Taiwan’s preeminent cluster of science and technology parks.
Global CONNECT is a dynamic collection of organizations – from firms and regional development organizations to university program, and capital service providers – working together to develop international high technology and life science linkages. MaRS and Global CONNECT are working together to develop a cross-border network of relationships spanning the communities of business, science and capital – a network that will provide a perfect interface for entrepreneurs and researchers working in both Canada and the United States.
