DNA Sequencing
State-of-the-art ABI, Licor and Beckman automated DNA sequencing technologies provide service for custom and large-scale sequencing projects including mutation screening, PCR product and plasmid analysis and cDNA and genomic clone sequencing. Study design and sequence analysis support is also provided. The facility operates seven days a week for rapid turnaround.
DNA Synthesis
Standard and customized oligonucleotide DNA synthesis services are available for all PCR-based assays, DNA sequencing reactions, fluorescence-based genotyping and anti-sense experimentation. Rapid turnaround and high quality are guaranteed.
Genome Resources
Specialized genomic services for screening human, mouse, canine and other genomic libraries, and physical mapping using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and somatic cell hybrid analysis are provided. Characterization of human and mouse genomic regions involved in chromosomal rearrangements using FISH, multi-color FISH and computational analysis of the corresponding DNA sequence are also available. Isolation of full-length cDNA clones and gene expression profiling is offered using high-quality RNA from many different tissue or cell types for cDNA, RT-PCR and RACE experimentation. The facility also houses the most important Human Genome Project resources including the NIA mouse cDNA collection, the RIKEN mouse cDNA collection, the 40,000 sequence-verified human IMAGE clone collection, the Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC) and human and mouse genomic PAC and BAC libraries. Karyotyping for research purposes is now offered for human and mouse (ES/transgenic) cell lines.
Sample Collection and Genotyping
The facility prepares and archives DNA and lymphoblastoid cell lines from blood and other tissue samples. The genotyping component of the facility provides genome-wide scans using microsatellites, and fine mapping using microsatellite and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping.
Statistical Genetics and Analysis
The statistical analysis facility provides consultative services to assist in study design, implementation of high-throughput experimentation, data analysis for genetic mapping and gene expression analysis.
Expression and Genomic Microarrays
The microarray facility provides gene expression studies using Affymetrix GeneChip technology. Assistance in study design and data analysis is provided, along with technical assistance in RNA preparation and quality-control monitoring. Two new services available in the facility are comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) microarrays to scan for imbalances along chromosomes and human mapping 10K arrays (versions 1 and 2) for SNP genotyping.
