If MaRS is all about “convergence”, establishing links to other blogs that operate in the same space seems in order. Herewith, a list of three blogs that touch on topics near and dear to MaRS. I’ll share more favourites in future posts.
Sponsored by the publishers of SEED Magazine, this is a collection of 49 blogs with titles ranging from “Molecule of the Day” to “Afarensis” (yes, blogs can be a great way of expanding your vocabulary). Content can be accessed by individual blog, by most recent postings or by category. A great way to idle away an hour or two.
New Scientist’s Invention Blog
This is the New Scientist magazine’s attempt to track and report on innovation. Each post comments on and links directly to recent patent applications. Recent topics ranged from a cell-phone smoke detector to the modification of jellyfish stinging cells for drug injection or tattoo applications. Offers lots of who’d-have-thought moments.
Technology Review: TR Editors’ Blog
Another off-shoot of a publication, this is the blog maintained by editors of MIT’s bi-monthly magazine, Technology Review. Offers analysis and commentary on news and developments in technology and the life sciences. Well written, authoritative and one of my essentials for staying in the know.
