Founding Chair of MaRS awarded for biotech leadership

It’s an award-winning week for Dr. John Evans, Founding Chair of MaRS.

BIOTECanada is announcing today in Ottawa that Dr. Evans is among the 2008 winners of its Gold Leaf Award for leadership and innovation. On Thursday he will be profiled by CBC Radio’s Ideas on the occasion of his winning the 2007 Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research.

“As one of the fathers of Canadian biotechnology, Dr. John Evans’ personal leadership has been seminal in inspiring those of us who work in biotechnology today,” said Peter Brenders, President and CEO of BIOTECanada. “It is a rare privilege for BIOTECanada to be able to honour his contribution with this year’s Industry Leadership Award.”
