The New York Times profiles John Kao, a man The Economist has called “Mr. Creativity.”
Kao’s focus is the nexus of science, technology and entrepreneurship, and he identifies an urgent need to “link scientific talent and capital, and an ability to integrate existing technologies so they can be used together in new and productive ways.” He outlines this argument in his recent book Innovation Nation, a cri de coeur for a revitalized American innovation agenda.
Kao warns that without sweeping reform, “we will have an elite class of educated, cosmopolitan, global citizens who have a ticket of entry to the major leagues… and a much larger group of marginally employable people who have been sold a bill of goods by a consumption economy.”
