MaRS wins city award

The who’s who of city building has spoken and MaRS has made the cut.

The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) announced this week that MaRS has earned its Creative City Award for our role in building creative capacity in Toronto.

“MaRS has found a creative way for science and business to collaborate rather than compete and to help Canada become a knowledge-based economy,” said CUI President and CEO Glen Murray.

“This award recognizes MaRS as a leader in stimulating the creative capacity of the city and advancing entrepreneurship, not only in science and technology but also in social ventures. They have made Toronto a more technologically savvy city, have developed talent and facilitated the exploration of ideas and the application of new knowledge.”

About 500 members of Canada’s city-building community will gather at the Royal York Hotel for the CUI awards ceremony on June 5, honoring all 18 “exceptional city builders” across the country.
