In this lecture, students learn the difference between a board of advisors and a board of directors and what roles they play in running a business. Providing real-life examples of governance best practices and exploring the legal requirements of different structures and the consequences of board decisions.

About the speaker
David Pasieka
President
Liberty Utilities
David has played a significant leadership role in many of Canada's technology companies, from Bell and AT&T to Zerofootprint, 724 Solutions and Algonquin Power. He is experienced in telecom, enterprise software, financial services, regulated utilities and most recently cleantech. He also sits on several boards, including Oakville Hydro and is on the faculty of The Directors College. At MaRS, he helps high-potential entrepreneurs get what they need to progress through their commercialization journey drawing on both the MaRS toolkit and the wider collaboration network.
