The communications industry remains in constant flux, with new competitors, new technologies and new demands from both operators and consumers for leading-edge voice and data services. But as Voice over IP becomes “Everything over IP” what are the implications for established players and entrepreneurs?

From the vantage point of his roles as an Officer of AT&T to COO of Lucent’s Business Communications Systems division, Dan has been at the center of some of the most exciting developments in the global telecom market. In his most recent role as CEO of Telecordia (the former BellCore organization), Dan led a global operation of 3000 employees. World renowned for its operations and network systems designed for business and governments around the world, the Telecordia organization has achieved an impressive record of applied research, with more than 800 patents to its credit. The company won the Frost & Sullivan European Company of the Year award in 2006.

In this session, Dan will speak to key trends in everything from IP-based networks to Wireless and Web 2.0 – how these developments creating market players and new value chains. Of particular interest to Dan are the profound impacts that globalization and increasingly convergent technologies are having on both business and governments.

Daniel J. Carroll
Director, Telcordia and Pall Corporation

Daniel J. Carroll, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Telcordia, has held a variety of executive-level positions at AT&T, Western Electric, and Lucent Technologies, including Chief Operating Officer of Lucent's Business Communications Systems division, which provides telecommunications systems to large and small business enterprises. As an officer of AT&T, he had assignments responsible for billing software systems as well as the Global Central Office Switching Systems business. Mr. Carroll is a Member of the Board of Overseers at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and is currently a director of Telcordia and Pall Corporation.
