Launching Ting: A Canadian Company’s Plan to Take on the American Mobile Market

MaRS Discovery District
101 College St.
Toronto, ON M5G 1L7
Ting is a new mobile phone service that Tucows is launching in the US later this year. Its mission is to bring clarity and control to mobile services – and hopefully to save people some money along the way.
Why is Tucows launching a mobile phone service? And why in America? Better still, how do they expect to launch a challenger brand in a country where the top three brands have a quarter of a billion subscribers and mega-million dollar marketing budgets?
Joining us to answer these and other questions is Tucows EVP, Products, Ken Schafer. He’ll give us a detailed explanation of their strategy and how they took Ting from conception to launch in less than a year on a shoestring budget.
