Lived it Lecture – Cleantech

MaRS Auditorium 101 College St. Toronto, ON
This is part of a series of “Lived It” lectures in the program, sessions that offer a great opportunity to hear firsthand and ask questions about the experience of starting up an innovative company – from people who have seen it and done it.
Speaker:
Tom Rand, Advisor and Practice Lead, Cleantech, MaRS Discovery District, Toronto. Tom launched his entrepreneurial career in 1991 with Voice Courier Inc. He grew the company to over 100 employees in three countries, with annual revenues in excess of $20 million. In 2008, he turned his attention to Planet Traveler—a successful project that converted an abandoned building into North America’s greenest hotel, using technologies such as geo-exchange heating and cooling and drain-water heat recapture. Tom now focuses on carbon mitigation and is active in cleantech venture capital and public advocacy – he opened a cleantech investment seed fund in 2005. His book, Kick the Fossil Fuel Habit: 10 Clean Technologies to Save Our World, is distributed in Canada by Fitzhenry & Whiteside.
Come hear Tom tell his entrepreneurial story.
