Highland Therapeutics Inc. is a drug development company focused on improving the lives of patients by using today’s science to enhance yesterday’s treatments.  Older drugs without patent protection are frequently abandoned to generic competition by the companies that first discovered them.  As a result, they are not the subject of the intense research they once were.  Recent and rapid technological advancements have made it possible to use these drugs in novel ways, potentially resulting in new patent opportunities.  Many older products known to be safe and efficacious, can be repurposed to exploit other indications in which their utility has not been tested. Alternatively, off-patent drugs may be enhanced by using novel drug-delivery systems to potentially reduce side effects while simultaneously enhancing their efficacy.

Currently, Highland Therapeutics has two drug candidates under development and a third at an earlier stage. Management expects to advance its first two lead compounds into clinical trials later this year.  Given the abbreviated regulatory pathways available to us by U.S. regulations, we expect substantial growth in a relatively short time-frame.
