Funders: Founded by the J.W McConnell Foundation, SiG is generously funded by the Foundation, as well as the Government of Ontario.

SiG Network & Advisors: “SiG@Large” is the umbrella network for all of the SiG nodes. The McConnell Foundation manages SiG@Large online. Principals from different institutions, organizations, and consultancy agencies advise the nodes, which are housed at different institutions, chosen for their specific capacity to round-out SiG as a fulsome, holistic initiative.

The founding members of the SiG network include: The McConnell Foundation as the granting arm, the MaRS Center as the incubator, and the University of Waterloo as the academic lead. The founding principals include: Al Etmanski, the Executive Director of PLAN; Frances Westley, Director, SiG@Waterloo; and Michael Manolson, partner of Genesis Consulting Group.

Clients: SiG@MaRS considers initiatives with blended value propositions; business plans with social and/or environmental outputs that are looking to commercialize, or scale.

Partners: SiG@MaRS looks to partner with established and emerging organizations and initiatives in and around Social Innovation, including but not exclusive to, the areas of: social finance, social entrepreneurship and social technology.
