Bill Young is the President of Social Capital Partners (“SCP”) a company he founded in 2001. SCP is a non-profit company that invests in revenue generating social enterprises that employ disadvantaged populations who are outside the economic mainstream in Canada. The primary goal of SCP is to eventually create scaled models of social purpose businesses that can exist without government funding and deliver improved social outcomes and financial self-sufficiency for the people they employ. SCP will also act as a catalyst for the development of innovative financing instruments that will help create a more diverse non-profit capital market in Canada. Before founding SCP he worked for approximately twenty years in the private sector primarily as CEO of Hamilton Computers, and Optel Communications Corp. He began his career as a Chartered Accountant and holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard.
