| The benefits of this prestigious award are threefold in nature and broader in scope. The winner of the Schwab Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be included in and have access to the Schwab Foundation’s global network of outstanding social entrepreneurs. The award winner will also receive national recognition through the coverage in the Globe and Mail and the award ceremony itself. The winner will be invited to the Annual Summit for Outstanding Social Entrepreneurs of the Schwab Foundation in January 2008. Transportation, food and lodging will be covered by the Foundation. This gathering brings together winners of the Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year competition from around the world. In addition, the Globe and Mail coverage provides semi-finalists and the Social Entrepreneur of the Year with visibility and legitimacy for the work he/she spearheads. This coverage increases the likelihood of support for the initiative. Finally, as the Social Entrepreneur of the Year from Canada, the winner will participate in a regional meeting of the World Economic Forum that takes place in the region where the winner’s social enterprise has most impact. The Schwab Foundation covers the costs of the registration fee, transportation, food and lodging. More information on award benefits is available at: www.schwabfound.org/benefits.htm |
