Dr. Mark Walport M.D., Director, Wellcome Trust.
Dr. Walport was involved in clinical research and educational roles at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, for 20 years before joining Imperial College, London in 1997 to head the Division of Medicine. There he led a research team that focused on the immunology and genetics of rheumatic diseases. He was appointed Director of the Welcome Trust in 2003 and a member of the UK Council for Science and Technology in 2004.
