MaRS Client Profiles – ArcticDX
Age Related Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of legal
blindness in the Western world. Would you want to know if you were
at risk of developing the disease?
MaRS client ArcticDX has developed a genetic test for macular
degeneration—and is in the trial phase for a similar genetic test
for colon cancer. ArcticDX’s tests can specifically identify if a
person has an increased risk of developing a disease based on their
genes. Jim Pelot, ArcticDX’s CFO, describes the tests, discusses
the challenges and opportunities of the diagnostic space in Canada
and explains the benefits of working with MaRS.
