Position Overview

This position is offered in part by the MaRS Student Work Placement program (SWP), which connects post-secondary students with work placements in technology and business.

At Trainer Plus, we make a web and mobile platform the creates content and support ecosystems for trainers and gyms. This platform helps scale fitness support and personal training, helping the fitness industry offer new online services and be more accessible and affordable to more people. This is the first step in not only evolving their business online, but accessing new markets in corporate wellness and healthcare.

With fitness as the top form of prevention, there is still a disconnect between the fitness and healthcare industries. We are on a mission to help bridge the gap between fitness and healthcare, by using our technology to scale content from experts and reinforce a best practice, evidence based approach to fitness. Job Description:

We are looking for someone to help us manage our social channels, support customers and help produce simple videos needed for both. We need someone who can take ownership of our social media channels and help convey the brand and values of Trainer Plus to communicate to our existing users and help us attract new users to the platform. We have both consumer and professional facing applications, and this role would see managing content to both audiences.

This role would also entail helping in customer support to help connect training requests from consumers to trainers, and helping trainers get onboarded to the platform. Lastly, this role would also require some video production of simple how-to videos, working with our design team to illustrate new features as we release them.

As a community manager, you must be able to work with our business development and design team to help drive the mission of Trainer Plus to our customers. This means understanding the technology and core values of the company in order to convey those benefits to our users. The role will have freedom to experiment and work directly with the CEO to help get this message out and support users.

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge to execute social media campaigns in Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Creative and self-directed
  • Skills in Google tools (Docs, Sheets, etc)
  • Basic design skills
  • Ability to experiment, take chances, measure and iterate

Nice to haves

  • Experience with Adobe tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects) and/or Sketch
  • Basic video editing
  • Experience in the fitness industry
