(Video) Anatomy of a fundable start-up

As serial founder, angel investor and contributor to AngelList and Venture Hacks, Naval Ravikant has a nuanced perspective on what makes emerging tech companies A) successful and B) attractive to investors.

This video, from a Founder Showcase event in San Francisco, captures his presentation to almost 500 founders, angels and venture capitalists.

In it, Naval defines five qualities for “exceptional start-ups”.

  1. Traction
  2. Team
  3. Product
  4. Social Proof
  5. Pitch/ Presentation

However, he tells the crowd that what attracts investment is being exceptional in one of these aspects, because investors are themselves looking for ‘exceptional outcomes’.
