London Hydro and MaRS Advanced Energy Centre announce partnership

TORONTO, August 10, 2015 – London Hydro and the Advanced Energy Centre (AEC) at MaRS Discovery District today announced a new partnership, formalizing ongoing collaboration to foster the adoption of energy innovation in Ontario and internationally.

“The AEC is pleased to welcome London Hydro as a utility partner,” said Ron Dizy, Managing Director, AEC. “We continue to be impressed with London Hydro’s leadership and entrepreneurial nature – in advancing the Green Button platform and opening customer facing applications to new markets. We look forward to working with London Hydro to help utilities provide their communities with efficient, cost-effective and innovative electricity services.”

“London Hydro is proud to be a founding member of the Green Button Alliance and we are looking forward to our partnership with the AEC to further the development of exciting new products and programs that help our customers manage their energy usage through new technology,” said Vinay Sharma, CEO, London Hydro.

London Hydro and the AEC will work together to promote the strength of Ontario’s Green Button platform, as well as specific advances developed through the launch of Green Button in London Hydro’s service territory. The Green Button standard provides residential, commercial and industrial customers with easy and secure access to electricity data. As part of this partnership, the AEC and London Hydro will expand the application of this standard domestically and internationally. In doing so, the standard will continue to act as a catalyst for the growth and creation of businesses and solutions for utilities.

As part of the AEC’s utility transformation program, London Hydro will help identify and unlock new market opportunities for Ontario utilities and explore the transformation of utility markets globally.
