Rajesh Uttamchandani

Chief Operating Officer and Chief People Officer

Rajesh is Chief Operating Officer and Chief People Officer at MaRS. He previously led HR for Gap Inc. Canada, CIBC Mellon, the Wholesale Bank at CIBC, and most recently Zafin, a global fintech firm. He has also advised numerous companies across industries and geographies as a consultant at Deloitte.

Rajesh received his Bachelor of Science and Psychology as well as a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Honolulu, and both a JD and an LLM (Employment and Labour) from Osgoode Hall Law School. He is a lawyer called to the Bar of Ontario and an award-winning adjunct professor for the Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources (MIRHR) at the University of Toronto. Rajesh previously served as vice-chair for the Canadian Race Relations Foundation and currently serves as a board member of Canadian Stage, and OCS where he is chair of the HR and Governance Committee. Rajesh also serves as an Advisor to CILAR, the Coalition of Innovation Leaders against Racism.
