The top online tech events

From political rallies to climate strikes, music festivals and even drag performances, communities are finding ways to come together while keeping a safe social distance. The COVID-19 pandemic has led many events that thrive off of interpersonal interactions to move their activities online.

If anyone knows how to connect digitally, it’s the tech community. With the cancellation of most major tech conferences over the next few months, the community is gathering online for speaker series, startup workshops, and forums to share their COVID-19 experiences.

Here are our top picks for online tech events over the next few months:

1. Collision from Home

Many in Toronto’s tech community were disappointed to hear the giant tech festival Collision wouldn’t be coming back for its second year in town. However, its shift to an online festival will still offer top-tier speakers as well as a chance to chat with other attendees on its app. With speakers from such companies as Uber, Sidewalk Labs, Samsung and Microsoft, news outlets (New York Times, Buzzfeed and Wired) and even actors (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jamie on Game of Thrones), there’s truly something for everyone. June 22-25, online

2. TechTO Together

Toronto’s tech leaders are coming together for a special virtual event to share their insights on working together during times of adversity. Michael Katchen from Wealthsimple, Andrew D’Souza from Clearbanc and Candice Faktor from Faktory Ventures are just a few of the names speaking at this free event for the whole community.  March 23, online

3. A webinar on revenue growth for B2B SaaS startups

Learn growth tactics to take your startup from zero to $100 million in this webinar for B2B SaaS startups. Mark Roberge, senior lecturer at Harvard Business School and former CRO of HubSpot, will share his insights on how he scaled HubSpot’s annualized revenue from zero to $100 million, grew the customer base from one to 12,000 and expanded the sales team from one to 450. The discussion will cover what to expect at each stage of growth, including product-market fit, go-to-market fit and more. March 25, online

4. Singularity University online events

Singularity University, the global learning and innovation community, is hosting several online events, including a webinar on how leaders can navigate chaos in uncertain times. They also already hosted a three-day COVID-19 virtual summit on the state and future of pandemics, which is available to watch online now. Various dates, online
