MaRS announces COVID-19 vaccination policy for its staff

September 14, 2021 — Today, MaRS Discovery District announced a COVID-19 vaccination mandate requiring all employees, guests and clients to be vaccinated in order to visit MaRS corporate offices. The mandate also applies to MaRS staff and their business contacts who will be meeting in alternative locations, including coffee shops and restaurants.

Staff and visitors for other businesses in the MaRS building should consult directly with those companies about their vaccination policies.

All MaRS staff will be required to provide proof of vaccination status before going into the office. Clients and guests coming to MaRS corporate office spaces must be registered at least one day in advance, must pass all health screening questions and follow all public health guidelines. Clients and guests must also complete a MaRS Covid-19 vaccination attestation form prior to arrival onsite.

MaRS will provide accommodations for employees or contractors who cannot be vaccinated for valid medical reasons or who have chosen not to be vaccinated at this time, must continue to work from home.

In addition to its new vaccination policy, MaRS continues to follow public health guidelines and restrictions inside and outside the workplace.

“The wellbeing and safety of our employees is our top priority and we are committed to providing a healthy and safe workplace,” said Yung Wu, CEO, MaRS.

MaRS’s vaccination policy will remain in effect as long as Ontario and Toronto public health authorities recommend that employers institute a workplace vaccination policy to protect their employees and the public from COVID-19.

The details of this temporary policy are subject to change as public health guidance and understanding of COVID-19 evolves.
