It’s no secret that the biotech industry is going through a very difficult period; many of the biotech start-ups are running out of cash and are desperately looking for more money to survive. Many more have already disappeared.
This (and the Winter Olympics preparations, of course!) makes the 7th Annual BioPartnering North America that takes place in Vancouver, BC, between January 24 and 26, 2010, a major attraction for the biotech community in North America.
And if you’re a grad or post-grad student, you might just be able to get there and make some precious job contacts for free!
Whether you are a scientist working on the newest stem cell technology, or one of the few VCs or Angel investors that still believes in the future of biotech, this is THE place to be this winter.
The list of participants includes everyone from well-established international companies like Daiichi Sankyo (Japan) and Sandoz (Germany) to start-ups such as Sernova and YM Bioscience (Ontario). Last year the participation was great: 904 delegates from 551 companies and 33 countries. They’re hoping that this year, with the renewed optimism for a recovering economy, the participation will be even better.
So, don’t waste any time, check out their website and register for the conference while there is space left. If you’re a grad or post-grad biotech student, check the Student Bursary requirements: you might be able to go for free (but don’t tell anyone else)! The Technology Vision Group LLC/BIOTECanada Student Bursary provides full conference registration and a travel allowance. The deadline for applications is Dec. 1, 2009.
