Explore the influence of social media

From climate change to homelessness, shame is being weaponized and used to shift responsibility for addressing social issues from institutions to individuals. That’s the idea behind the book The Shame Machine by American mathematician and data scientist Cathy O’Neil. The work, which examines the relationship between shame, power and social media, will be discussed at the next Culture and Technology Book Club. December 6, Toronto Reference Library
