Our globally top-ranked practice is made up of established entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We offer value to new entrepreneurs by providing business advice, mentorship, educational events, market intelligence and seed capital, as well as by connecting emerging companies with potential partners, customers, investors and talent to help them grow their business.
We’re developing partnerships in Canada and around the world, identifying financing opportunities, and creating events and publications that will help Ontario entrepreneurs in the cleantech and advanced materials sector succeed. Our discovery pipeline and collaborative model serve both the investment community and private industry.
The focus of the cleantech practice is on innovative solutions in the fields of:
MaRS Cleantech Fund LP
MaRS Cleantech Fund LP is a new model of collaboration between MaRS and the private sector. The privately backed fund will focus on early-stage cleantech companies in the MaRS cleantech practice and is providing around $1 million as an initial investment, with possible follow-on funding.
Energy Institute
The Energy Institute is bringing together government, cleantech leaders, regulators, utilities, the academic community and the private sector to expand Ontario’s role in the $38 trillion global energy industry. Together we are working to support domestic innovation in energy storage, efficiency, data, grid automation and new forms of generation, and to build globally competitive and export-driven businesses.
