The MaRS Volunteer Advisor Program is made up of passionate executives and serial entrepreneurs that share in the MaRS mission of fostering meaningful innovation — solving real problems for real people. Curated by MaRS, our volunteer experts understand how to grow a company, sell to new customers, pitch to potential investors, manage employees and much more. Our advisors love sharing knowledge and relish the chance to mentor the next generation of Canada’s brilliant innovators.

Program Overview

What you’ll do:

Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship
Contribute to workshops, events, learning materials and the MaRS online community
Connect startups with potential customers, investors, partners and talent

What you’ll do:

Your qualifications:

Experience as a company founder, executive, or senior team member at a high-growth tech venture
Sector-specific expertise and/or deep business functional knowledge
A strong professional network interested in early-stage startups

Completion of MaRS documentation, training, onboarding and orientation programs
Contribute four (or more) volunteer hours per month
Commit to the program for one year (renewable)
Provide diligent record-keeping and reporting; adhering to the use of various platforms/tools
Meet as a community to get updated on the program and share insights
