MaRS powering StartUp HERE Toronto

TORONTO, October 19, 2020 — MaRS is excited to announce that it has signed an agreement with the City of Toronto to manage editorial content and marketing for StartUp HERE Toronto, the city’s startup community hub.

“We are thrilled to help tell the great stories coming out of the GTA’s startup ecosystem via StartUpHere Toronto,” said Karen Mazurkewich, VP of Strategic Communications, MaRS. “StartUp HERE Toronto is a top destination for our city’s vibrant entrepreneurial community. Our team looks forward to further growing the platform and supporting an even broader range of entrepreneurs.”

“The Toronto Region is a global centre of innovation and technology with incredible homegrown success stories,” said John Tory, Mayor of Toronto. “When combined with other MaRS platforms, StartUp HERE will reach an audience of over a million per year. This will help us amplify the stories of our entrepreneurs, while providing them with the resources and tools they need to navigate these challenging times.”

StartUp HERE Toronto captures the startup experience in the Toronto Region for local and international innovators interested in investing in or joining the sector. The site will continue to reflect the tech and innovation talent in the region and will expand into new areas including in-depth founder profiles, event roundups, targeted entrepreneurship resources and more.

StartUp HERE Toronto was founded by the City of Toronto in 2015 as a collaborative economic development initiative launched to support the growing startup and innovation community in Toronto. The purpose of StartUp HERE Toronto is to connect entrepreneurs to programs, resources and events to help them start, grow and scale their business in Toronto, no matter the sector, be it food, fashion, music or manufacturing.

StartUpHereToronto.com will remain a stand-alone site and retain its brand, operating under MaRS ownership.
