At celebrations Wednesday night across the country, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50™ recognized some of Canada’s most innovative, promising and environmentally conscious high-growth companies. For the winners, it was a chance to take a well-deserved night off and enjoy speeches, networking, dinner and drinks. For MaRS and our partner organizations Communitech and OCETA, the event provided the opportunity to celebrate the successes of some of our clients.
Dianne Buckner, renowned business journalist and host of CBC’s Dragon’s Den, presented the awards to the winners in Ontario. Waterloo-based Communitech clients Bayalink Solutions Corp. and IAF-funded Aeryon Labs were recognized in the “Companies-to-Watch” category.
Following an environmental call-to-arms by former geneticist and long-time environmentalist Dr. David Suzuki, Real Tech Inc. and Vive Nano were recognized for their potential to help make water treatment and fertilizers, respectively, easier on the environment. The two companies were honoured with Deloitte’s Technology Green 15™ award. Keep an eye out for all the Technology Green 15™ winners Monday morning as they collectively ring the opening bell at the TSX!
Because MaRS clients are typically early-stage technology companies, it’s no surprise that they were well represented in the Companies-to-Watch and Technology Green 15™ categories. Duncan Stewart, Deloitte’s Director of Research in Technology, Media and Telecom, best summed up the benefits of being recognized as a Technology Fast 50™ recipient in a video that can be seen here. For more analysis and opinion, you can join in the conversation here, and a complete list of winning companies can be found here.
We’d like to congratulate all of this year’s winners and wish them continued success in the years to come.
